wrapped header, replaced CAT with XR-1 muffler.. underhood temps still too HOT!!!
I had a RB wrapped header with a bonez free flow cat. Underhood temps were pretty hot, my strut bar and aluminum intake tube were so hot I couldnt touch them. I installed a borla XR-1 muffler in replace of the cat to cut down on the heat and exhaust tone and still underhood temps are just as hot. Sounds greaat though but I would have thought not having a cat would drop temps significantly...
I swear when I had the stock exhaust setup I could run all night and my strut bar and intake tube were only warm to the touch.
Am I TRiPpEn??? Fan still works... replaced the t-stat a few months ago...
Would removing the header wrap help at all??? Thanks!!

lol, for sure... that's why we only roll when the sun goes down. You know how it is... but yeah, with the exception of the exhuast manifold all the heat shields are in place. I swear temps got a lot hotter when I installed the header though...

what i could use is a custom made heatshield for the header...
Anyone out there feel like fabing some up, I haven't heard of anyone doing it...
The other alternative would be to have the header ceramic coated, kinda expensive though.
