Reliability isn't a HUGE issue if you stay regular with maintenance. N/A's aren't insane-fast, but they're definitely strong and peppy. No carburetor, only the 1st Gens had them (and only till a certain year). As to buying, Aaron Cake's got a good writeup on that.

If you want more power, but a bit less reliability, go for the TII. Good luck, and welcome to the family!

85 PSI is the factory low limit. Anything below that, ditch it.

You're better off doing it yourself than paying a shop to do it....a whole lot of places don't have the slightest clue what to do with a rotary, and it is done a bit differently. Go get a comp guage tester. Connect it to the top spark plug hole. Pull the EGI fuse(under the hood--there are two of them) and turn the car over. It is important to remove the check valve from your comp tester, as this will only show the high reading. You are looking for three even bounces on the guage. If you don't have three even ones, tell us what you get. Also--the bounces should be above 85-90 like someone said, or the comp is too low. Once this is done, do the same thing for the rear chamber--top hole, and record those results.
