I would wait and find something better, IMHO.

It was on eBay this past week. It didn't sell for a reason. They do have a nice 91 eclipse turbo there for 750...looks like **** though.

That's probably not a good car for someone new to rotary engines. Anything that old is going to have blown-out seats, a broken sunroof, and the AC is going to be worthless because it will no longer hold the freon that is expensive or impossible to replace - these are all normal problems. The main problem with this car is the engine, and there may be other problems, too. With that kind of mileage and the description given, the engine may need a rebuild, which costs around $2,000. I think it would be better to find a car with a good engine so that you can at least drive it for a while before it's up on cement blocks.

BTW, since you are new, note that most of the other automotive internet forums take a few days for the responses to roll in. This forum is obviously faster-paced, but don't have a cow it nobody replies to your post in the first 2 hours.

With that 30 day limited warranty, I'd buy and go out and blow it up in a week and then they would pay for half the repairs or engine and labor.

It depends on the model and condition of the car. The Base models (or SE) with 4-lug wheels don't sell very well, and you can sometimes get them for nothing. These make great budget cars that are fun to toss around the autocross course, they are the lightest models, and the tires are more affordable, but they lack the upgraded front brakes and LSD of the upper-end non-turbo models. The turbocharged models generally sell for $500-1,000 more than the non-turbo models. The 89-92 Series 5 cars sell for more than the 86-88 Series 4 cars because they are usually in better condition and most people like the tail lights better (I could care less). Whatever you do, do NOT get an 2Gen with an automatic transmission. These are very expensive to fix/replace, and are a real pain to convert to a manual transmission.

Note all of the 1Gen and 2Gen coupes generally have the same insurance rate, regardless of whether or not they are turbocharged. The convertibles cost more to insure, as do the 3Gen coupes.

What exactly were you looking for?

LOL, that sounds like a good idea, but since 1/2 the cost of fixing the engine is going to be more than the car is worth, I'm sure that there is some way that they would get out of paying for it.
