Smile Is this worth it or what?

I just bought an 86 GXL for $488 after title and plate. Its got 157,527 miles on it. Seems to run okay without any smoke or noise. Does need a brake job as well as some possible front end work. Shifter is VERY sloppy and the throw out bearing is loud when cold but quiets down after driving a bit, clutch is solid though. The interior is in not so good shape, and the body is fair for a michigan car. Oh yea the ac still works..... go figure!

Since I don`t know sh%* about a rotary I`ll most likely bug the crap out of you guys.
Hope you don`t mind. (I will check the archives first) Glad I found this site! :)

If it quits snowing long enough for me to wash it tomorrow I`ll get a couple of pics and get them posted. The car is a dark blue (a rather bad aftermarket paint job) Believe it or not it aint got much rust that I can see. Some dummy put a spoiler on it and did a bad job so its about to fall off due to rust. When the weather warms up I`ll work on that though. It really sucks to work on any car outside this time of year (and I`m a Texas boy to boot).

It sounds like an OK deal to me. The mileage is getting high, but if it was well taken care of then there's no immediate cause for concern. If it was previously rebuilt, then you'd be in good shape.

The shifter play can most likely be fixed by replacing the bushings.

Sounds good, seems the FC are the bargin Rx's anyway. You can find allot of the parts in junkyards too for them much easier than any other Rx. Welcome.

Okay, I`m gonna show my stupidity. What does FC stand for.
My guess would be "fuel injected coupe"?
After you stop laughing let me know

Nothing, it's just the first two letters of the chassis number on all 86-91 RX-7's.
