Worth keeping pump?

Hi, i was thinking about gutting my cats i have an 87 TII so would the air pump be totally useless after that? Would keeping it help AT ALL with the smell after i gut the cats or would it have any affect at all?
Thanks in advance for the help!

ok, thats what i had in mind, only one problem, in this part of california they require to pass emissions, but i was thinking i could get a PO Box somewhere where it isnt required right? But what do i say if the car is registered in another city, but i am driving it in the same city that is on my drivers lincense if pulled over?

I have heard through the grape vine (these forums) that if your worried about emissions, Run like 1 gallon of denatured alcohol with 10 gallons of gas in your tank and take it up to your sniffer test station. I've heard it'll pass without problem. But dont hold me 100% to it.

In cali, they have visual inspections, though.

To the OP, I would just keep it. It has no effect on power, and is a very minimal weight - you can easily save that much by going on a diet. Its not worth the extra hassle to save 10 pounds.

I might have similar issues when I get my car back up and running. I'll just throw my cat back on (with the denatured alcohol "trick") for the visual inspection part, and keep my fingers crossed/say a prayer while they're running the car on the dynamo.

Do what we do, fake e-test...or in my case my car is 20 years old so I am exempt.

No really, make friends with the guy doing the test..or get a friend to do it.

Sideways 7 - when you say extra hassle, what do you mean? I don't have a turbo but may buy one, what's involved with airpump deletion?
