worth it?
i'm thinking abotu buying a 1990 RX-7 but the guy said that it must have a leaking head gasket or something, is it worth it so still go ahead and buy it, is it hard to replace the head gasket? and would i have to pull the engine to replace it or can i do it in car?

How much does he want for it?
Less than 800cad (is canada cad? lol) go for it, by leaking head gasket I have no clue what that is on a piston engine I'm sur esomeone will know what it is and know the rotary equivalent of whats wrong.

If you start it when it's there, and it puffs whte smoke and doesn't stop then the coolent seals will need replacement, when thats done you can just rebuild the whole engine.
If it just puffs alittle bit when first started (Mine does for a good few mins) then it should be fine, with alittle body damage and such yeah try to bring it to 700 at the most.

I've never done it myself but if you can work on a piston engine no problem (atleast remove it) I'd say you could do it with some proper reading.
Otherwise you can have a rotary shop do it.
To replace the coolent seals the entire engine must be taken apart (not that big of a deal compared to piston engines) the coolent seals are on the housings going around, since it's already taken apart most would replace the rest of the seals.

Unless you are excited to get into the rotary world, this car probably isn't for you. I would research rebuilding an engine on this forum and decide if you want that kind of commitment. There are plenty of used rx7's out there so don't feel pressure to but this one. Unless it's a turbo, $800 is not a great price for an rx7 with a blown engine that has body damage. And you can bet there will be a list of other items the car will need.

if you have never rebuilt the motor or a motor for that fact and don't have a lot of money to spend for the in case ****, don't buy it. they are not completely complicated but don't take the well since they only have 3 main moving parts they can't be that hard. im about to rebuild my motor for my first time and i know that its gonna be a challenge for me. and im going to school for mechanics. if you are gonna attempt this just do a lot of research before you start tearing into anything. i bought mine and bought a rebuilt core and ever since then i have just been researching. everyday i learn something else that will help me in my build. if you are new to rotaries just buy a rebuilt core and swap it in. probably be cheaper. check on here with rotary resurrection or rx7world.com. <two different people

Yeah it'll run fine with bad coolent seals for a bit, I'm guessing it smokes like normal, maybe alil more and the owner being a unexperenced rotary owner thinks its bad, try to convince him it is after hearing it run, then lower the price
