Great picture! I think I see a Sasquatch!

It's either 1 of 2 things. An O2 sensor (weird, but some people...), or more likely an EGT sensor for an exhaust gas temp meter. Unless you have that meter, leave the sensor in the manifold to keep it plugged.

sorry, this is best I could do at the moment as far as picture. So you think this is not a factory sensor? Even on S5 manifolds?

I have an S5 TII manifold and turbo on mine. That's not factory.

EGT sensor is most likely.

Have you removed it to see what kind of sensor it has? If it's for an EGT gauge, you ought to consider utilizing it.

Ok so it is not a factory egt sensor, i dont think utilizing it would be as simple as finding any ol' egt gauge and trying to splice the wires. I would assume gauges and sensors are matched. On a side note, is this where egt sensor should be located, not on a downpipe or anything?

Yes, you would need a specific gauge for it if you wanted to use it.

EGT sensors go as close to the exhaust ports as possible.

Ugh, I suppose EVERY little detail is necessary when dealing with these types of people. :-/

Point is, even if you're not going to use the sensor, it would be in your best interest to make good use of the hole that the sensor is/was in. I'll just keep out of this for now, though.

Oooh i totally forgot im posting on the "evil rx7 forum" and u must be one of the infamous members that contribute to that name. Please excuse my benightedness my lord.

But if you are implying that most egt sensors have standardized diameter and thread, well that would have been a good detail to start with instead of doing what your type likes to do...
