ignition problems with bosch coils
ok so first off my s5 t2's specs are large streetport, microtech lt10s, bosch ignition coil packs, fmic big turbo / injectors etc etc.
so i got a major problem.. was bout to go home from local track, start car and it runs pig rich (10.0 @ Idle) and is obviously idling like a peripheral port and is undrivable.. This has been happening more frequently but once it warms up a bit its good to go and revs perfect
So it smooths out, i get into first gear to start rolling out and it dies on me.. microtech is blinking red (didnt have my dash unit on me either)
long story short, pushed started it because it was insanely flooded, got it started n it idled super rich again.. as is was idling i popped each coil pack off individually and when i got to one of them the idle instantly went normal.
this happened 4 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE TRACK.. and i live over a hour away, it was brutal.
To get it started i would pop all the coilpacks off so the spark can still reach, and crank and it usually started
Would this be a faulty coilpack, wiring, or spark plug wire issue? I think my coils are bosch HEC-715's (will have to double check) They only have 5,000km on them , and so do the wires.. they look brand new still.
Sorry for the long read! any inputs appreciated

I've had nothing but problems with the Boshe coils. Gone though 3-4 sets. Use the stock t2 coils there great. Few buddies are useing them on their 20b race cars, switched from the bosche ones too. With no problems. I assume your running the x4 box too?
you are flooding
the issue is not the coils themselves failing but the stupid mixtures fouling plugs at idle
switch to gappable bike plugs,, gap down to 0.60 mm , and set the coil dwell to 3.75 - 4 ms
this is enough to keep 18 pounds of boost and around 400 rwhp at a 10.5 AFR lit for everyone else
cant see why you are different beyond a sick tune

Hmm interesting. I had a feeling its a bad coil pack. But i also took the spark plugs out and noticed A) They are fouled to hell, and B) They are ALL trailing plugs, is this normal when running bosch coilpacsks? My FD has the same ignition setup but it has irradium spark plugs in it i think.. rather that or snowmobile plugs, will have to double check.. but either way it runs perfect with them.
Thanks for the advice so far.. keep it coming! What spark plugs do you guys suggest? part numbers or names anyone?

b9 EG or b9 EGV all around for about 1 bar boost in warm conditions
with a microtech be sure you have silicon suppressed ( ballasted ) type leads with these plugs
you will need the shaved spark plug socket tool
