wooohoooo!!!!

Just got the rx7 project car running for the first time since I got it. Found out it was the ignition switch. Anyways this is whats happening now. When it started up pillows upon pillows of white smoke came out. We probably let it idle for about 5 to 7 minutes giving it gas every once in a while but still white smoke is there. Also the idle is very erratic <---shity spelling. Anyways if anyone has any help they could give as to why these to problems are happening I would be greatly appreciative!!! Thanks!

If you drive it, it will put a load on it and possibly make everything reseal. White smoke is usually water, steam actually, so you might have a blown seal or hole in the water jacket. Try to drive it first and see if it goes away. If it doesn't go away, pop the radiator cap (slowly) and see if bubbles rise up. If they are, your combustion is leaking into the water jackets. Blown exhaust seal?

Just some tips..

Do you still have the water injection system function?

water injection? What is that? is that for the turbo? Sorry kind of a noob when it comes to engines. I've owned a bunch of 7's but supprisingly enough I have never had to work on them until the mighty TII. Thanks.

Rotaries came with a subero starting system. What it does is squirt water into the combustin chamber to help warm up the cats. And to help cold weather start up.

Remove the tank that is behind the cannister and block off the solinoid that is on the upper intake manifold. You can do this by removing the solinoid and making a blockoff plate.Or just cap it off.

Since it's a turbo, maybe one of the coolant seals in the turbo has gona poop.

dont do that when the car is remotely warm. A safer way is get a compressor and a quick connect air fitting that compression gauges use. with the car off compress the combustion chamber and watch for bubbles.

well my turbo is an upgrade turbo that has only been used for about 500miles so I don't think its the turbo however I just started it up again today and damn same thing however I'm afraid I'm going to overheat it because I don't have the a/c and heater in (no interior) so the lines that connect the coolant to provide heat are disconnected. Anyways I let it idle for about 5 minutes again today and still lots of smoke.

Wait if the lines are unhooked thay means there is no coolant in the engine. Right?

Or am I missunderstanding you, and you have the capped off, or hooked together. Because I'm hopeing that is the case. But it still won't hurt it to run it with out the AC, and heater. That should have no effect on it.

Also, if I were you I would just start it up, and let it run for a while. If may be something in the exaust that is burning off, or oil that has seeped threw the seals, and is burning off. Or something like that.

man I hope that is the case I would be one happy camper! About the heater I don't have them blocked off or anything I put water in the radiator because I was afraid of the same thing. I talked to a mechanic freind of mine and he said it doesn't matter. Thanks cory for all the help.
