wont start...need advice
i've had an 87 TII since this past summer. at the time i bought it the car ran but definitely had cobwebs. it flooded CONSTANTLY, which i fixed the first few times by the fuel pump relay method, cleaning the injectors with alcohol worked a couple of times, and removing the spark plugs to blow out anything in the combustion chambers also worked. the water seals have been iffy too. before i even tried to crank it the first time i used aluminum and copper radiator and block sealer and the car never really ran hot until one night that i had been having alot of trouble starting it that day. all of a sudden the car doesnt run. since the summer, i went all through the engine bay cleaning up vacuum leaks and loose or faulty wires. changed all the fluids in the car, changed the fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, battery, battery terminals battery cables, primary and secondary ignition coils and ive removed and cleaned and reassembled the alternator, UIM, god done so much i cant remember it all, but the car still will not crank. it turns over but sounds pretty bad. i dont know alot about starters and whatnot, but i've heard a grinding kind of a noise when the motor will stop turning over while cranking. and nothing i have tried including push starting several times hasnt worked. i need advice from anyone that can tell me anything they think may fix this. thanks in advance,

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Cranking means the car is turning over.
Running means the car is started and running.
So, I am assuming that when you say the car does not crank, you really mean the car does not run.
Have you done a compression check yet? If so what are the numbers?
And injectors leaking that bad, just simple cleaing with alcohol would not be sufficent to actually clean an injector. You would want to send them out and have them ultrasonicly and flow cleaned.

do a "hand" compression check first or get a cheap compression check gauge. you prob need a buddy to help.
Crank the motor with all spark plug off. (remember to unplug the fuel pump.)
put your hand in front of R1 and then R2.. IF there is a big difference between the presure coming out of the 2 rotors then your motor is in need of a rebuild.
remeber if 0ne apex seal goes bad. 2 of the combustion camber won't get pressure. so pressure coming out of the spark plug holes will def be different.
If you are really lucky. the apex seal is just stuck by carbon deposits. do the Automatic transmission fluid trick to wash out the carbon deposit.
