won't start

my car has never ever given me a single problem on startup. it always cranks right up cold hot, whatever. this morning i hopped in and everything seemed normal when the key was at "on" but when i turned it to start, it clicked and never turned over and all the lights dimmed. Someone said this could be loose terminals or bad battery, but could this happen all of a sudden like that... i'd think it would be more gradual.

no... you have dead battery or very bad wiring connections

common to happen all of sudden like that. more likely when cold or warm temp changes happen (like overnight).

Once you rule out a dead battery, check your starter wiring in particular. This exact thing happened to me, where you hear the starter solenoid click, but nothing happens. Clean up your connections and try it again. If its still bad, you may need a new starter.

I got it fixed and running again, thanks for the help. It was simpler than I thought... the negative battery terminal wasn't making a good connection, thanks mostly to a previous owner's evil doings but after lots of cleaner and a new clamp all is right w/ the battery
