Won't idle for more than 10 seconds.

I bought this car knowing it needed a fuel pump. So I replaced the fuel pump and the primary injectors. Now after unflooding the engine severly times it will crank and die in a few seconds. At the most we have had it run just long enough to get warm. We have run out of ideas and NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! btw the air pump did not have a belt on it when I got it so i also put a belt on it but the pump was bad. So it is laying in the floor. Any ideas would be a great help.

if you took the air pump out, did you also remove the air control valve and use a block off plate on it? I couldnt get my old one running when I took the air pump belt off b/c it still had the ACV. I'd start by doing that

checked compression yet? intake leak maybe?

yeah, might be some sort of vacum leak. One loose hose and the thing doesn't stay on

Did you plug the AFM conector cack on?

WE JUST BLOCKED OFF THE AIR CONTROL VALVE, BUT DIDN'T SEEM TO HELP. THE CAR HAS ONLY RAN MORE THAN A MINUTE OR SO TWO OR THREE TIMES. ANY OTHER TIME THE CAR WILL START, RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN DIE. UNFLOODING SEEMS TO HELP IT START BETTER THE FIRST TIME, BUT ONCE IT DIES ITS HARDER TO START. MOST OF THE TIME TOUCHING THE THROTLE IS THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE DIEING, BUT THE ENGINE SOUNDS AS THOUGH IT IS GOING TO DIE SO GIVING IT GAS SEEMS TO BE THE ANSWER. GUESS NOT. WE ALSO REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AND PLACED THE PUMP IN A NEW JUG OF GAS THINKING THE GAS IN THE TANK MIGHT BE BAD. THIS DIDN,T SEEM TO HELP EITHER. ALSO WHEN GIVING IT GAS IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH IT IS GETTING TOO MUCH AIR LIKE A LEAKING GASKET OR INTAKE, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT STAY RUNNING LONG ENUFF TO CHECK FOR LEAKS WITH WD-40 ETC. WE HAVE REPLACED THE GASKET BETWEEN THE PLENUMS. ANY SUGESTIONS ARE GREATLY APRECIATED. THANKS

OH YEA, FORGOT TO ASK IF I HAD TO HAVE A SPECIAL COMPRESSION TESTER FOR THE ROTARY OR WILL A NORMAL COMPRESSION TESTER WORK???? IF NOT WHERE WOULD I BE ABLE TO FIND A SPECIAL ONE??

A normal compression tester will work, you just have to remove the one way vavle just below the gauge. Look for 3 even bounces as you crank the motor. Try to get the motor as warm as possible to do this.
