have a 86 non-turbo and it will not idle,and has lack of power.have changed plugs,fuel filter and checked several things per haynes manual(the last thing was the CAS and wiring.The CAS checked ok but the next test was the wiring continuity of the blue wire in the CAS harness.Book says it should show continuity to ground but it doesn't.Checked blue wire to ECU and it is ok,so took ECU apart and found two 3.9 ohm resistors burned on board.will this interrupt ground to blue wire? any other Ideas?will put resistors on board tonight and try cintinuity test again .Thanx

 

ITs sure nice to have a pile of spare parts for these situations, just to start swapping elelctonics.

First, have you done a compression test? I cant count the number of times Ive been told "it starts adn runs, but it just wont idle and it doesnt have all its power...its like its not getting enough fuel or spark..." only to test and find a blown seal or 3. Just an idea.

Fuel filters and plugwires are nice to change, but theyre normally not cluprits. Try sparkplgs and if that doesnt help then you probably have an actual problem somewhere. Id begin with swapping that computer, then maybe check the injectors and the fuel pump. Maybe also try and swpa in another AFM if yuo have the option.
