Wont go into gear

Sorry, dont have time to search right now. Out of nowhere while I was driving my car was getting really hard to shift into gears. Good thing I was already close to home. Im not sure if its my clutch, cause it still started when I pushed the clutch in at my house. Gears work fine while the car is off, but when running, it wont go into anything. Is it the clutch, tranmission, shifter? Im not sure, but any help would be appreciated, thanks

The reason the car starts is just because the clutch safety switch is activated when you push the pedal. Its a clutch related problem, either in the hydraulics or the clutch assembly. Look for leaks around the slave and master cylinder, if none are found remove the transmission and inspect the clutch disc/pressure plate/release bearing.

Actually if its hydraulic related it would be very simple to fix. But unfortunately I think its the clutch disc. I had this problem two years ago with and old clutch when I was driving, it kept getting harder and harder to get into gear and finally it let go and it wouldn't go into gear. The clutch disc came out in like 10 pieces. It happened again though and it was the clutch master which is super easy to do. Check hydraulics first.

Ok, so I thought Id try my car out this morning, cause Im actually supposed to go to work. Started it up, and it went into gear, took it for a spin around the block, and shifted into differnt gears fine. Makes a weird, so Im guessing something is still wrong. Its still drk outside, so I cant check for leaks or anything. Does anybody still think its the clutch?

Makes a wierd...sound? The problem is still clutch related, take a flashlight with you and check around the master cylinder, check fluid level, the line to the slave and around it.

ok, I checked the master, and looked fine a long with the fluid level. Havent looked at the slave. Tried all the gears again, and worked fine, but noticed a little quick grind while going into reverse

^^ Me.
I had the same thing happen to me. I drove around the block and when I tried to go from neutral to 1st, it wouldn't let me and you can actually hear a grinding noise from the transmission. I couldn't get into any gear with the car on and I could get into every gear when the car was off. I tried starting the car in 1st but that would cause a huge grinding noise. I pulled my transmission and engine and to my expectations... the pilot bearing broke and shattered into metal shavings.
