Wont Crank

I have a 86 NA, i drove it to my friends house, and left a few hours later. When i was trying to leave the car wouldnt crank, or rotate or anything.

So I look at my voltage meter and sees its low, the mark under the 12. I have my friends help me push start it and i drove it home with no problems. When i got home after i turned off the engine i tried to crank it again but again no luck.

I looked it up in my haynes so im pretty sure its my starter. but i was wondering if the engine is seized i couldnt push start it right? and could it be anything affecting my starter? Thanks for your help

if it was your rotars it wouldnt have ran or idled right. it would have been choppy . shaky. idle would be very wierd. its most likely your starter.

they are very easy to swap out have fun
oh also.... check the wires going to the starter. when you do this you have to have the clutch in. so have a buddy help. the button behind clutch completes the circuit to the starter
let us know how it goes!

Just because your battery says 12 volts, doesn't mean it's pushing enough amps to turn the starter. Try jump starting it before you do anything else.

If that doesn't work, most every auto store should do free starter testing. It only takes a couple minutes to pull off the starter. If it is the problem, then you're already half way done.

good luck, oh and. there should be a ground on your trani. just run any guage wire from your trani to your fire wall or strut tower or any were on your body. idoubt you put the ground back on. you can do this threw out your car . such as running one from your alternator to your strut tower. simply just run about a 14-8 guage wire from one part of your engine to the chassy. they get old. maybe its just a ground on your girl.

just a thought. and its easy to do.
