Was wondering..

Was just thinking today. I see fc's and fb's for sale all the time. Why is it that there are alot of fb's costing more than fc's. Today some guy came up to me asking if i wanted to buy his fb since he saw my 7's. He was asking 7500 for it. For that i couldve bought a nice modded T2. All the fb had was headers, muffler, filter with 115k on the odometer. A while back some other guy tried to sell me her fb for 4500 and it didnt start. Ive seen more fc's for less than 2000 (well na's) clean ones for like 4500 and more fb's for more than 3000. Just had me thinking of the values of both cars. I know the fd's will always be valued at a higher price.

As far as I can tell, FB's are creeping into classic old car status and their price is going up.

Well, to want an FB in the first place you have to be a little crazy and not all there, so it'd explain why they're more willing to splurge aimlessly. FB's are some fugly cars.

(Yes, i've owned them before, they're slow, don't really handle any better than an FC, and are fugly!). Although, they're reliable...

FBs are (almost) classic cars, FCs are just kind of old 80's cars to most people. The FC has become a bit of a street racer and/or ricer and/or drift car - like the 240sx - for younger people who think the FB is too slow and too old, and can't afford an FD. The FB is more likely to be owned by older guys who are in to classic cars and take better care of them.
The FBs that are still around are probably in better shape than a lot of FCs. As time goes by, the rusty junk cars end up in a junkyard and the more pristine examples will be all that's left. In about 10 years, I bet the same will happen to FCs.

That's just my speculation, though. I really have no idea.

I like my '91, but I've always wanted to drive a first gen.

Its cause finding an FB worth keeping is getting harder and harder, I used to have a GSL-SE before my FC, I don't see how anyone can think they're fugly tho. I loved that car, it got me hooked into rotors, and in my opinion, are just as fun, if not funner to drive than an FC. Just something bout how light they are, makes em great fun to rip around in, and because most of em aren't terribly fast, you wont get into a lot of trouble.

Would you like to buy my 88 convertible for $2,000,000?

OK, there, now FCs are worth more than FBs using the same logic.

The question is how much the cars actually sell for and not what there starting price was. I've seen FC's put up for 11,000 and never sold.
