wiring a usdm n/a harness to a jdm turbo motor.
wiring a usdm n/a harness to a jdm turbo motor.
i just bought a partially converted 86 base 2+2 with jdm turbo motor. i have a n/a harness and will hopefully, have the jdm turbo ecu if i forgot it at the house where i bought the car.
i was wondering if its possible to swap the pins as it is known to be possible on usdm n/a harness to turbo harness.
i'd like to keep the conversion as clean as possible so i would love to stick with as much us based components as possible.
(btw, i dont like using the term jdm and usdm in most cases, but in this case, it gets my point across quicker)
or if someone can point me in the right direction, dont have to explain anything.

USDM NA emissions harness + USDM turbo ECU (N332 or 333) and you're set. A JDM ECU might introduce some issues, and are fairly rare anyway. There's no "re-pinning" at all if you retain your NA harness. Take a look through the thread I link to in my sig.
you can jus use a na engine harness and usdm TII ecu. you might have to modify the engine harness because if i remember correctly one of the power steering wires can retard your timing.

well, dont tell the police. but i wont be running emissions anyway. any car older than 95 doesnt need to get tested, and thus, it doesn't matter if i have it or not.
at least i would like to run w/o emissions.

TII harnesses are a waste of time. Read the thread in my sig, as suggested. Retaining the NA harness and making a few very simple modifications is the much easier route.
It's in the swap thread, but I'll summarize the wiring:
1) Cut wire at ECU pin 1R
2) Extend TPS wires
3) Extend BAC wires
Done.

well my issue is. will the usdm n/a harness work on the jdm turbo motor. if it was a usdm turbo motor i would be asking anything. i'm not 100% sure but i'm pretty sure its the same thing as whats in stateside turbo rx's.
oh, and as stated before, its a 86 base with a japanese turbo motor....i'm just really concerned about any changes. i know the injectors are different impedence so i'll need to make adjustments for that as well.(88 being high, 86 being low)
Question well im using a S5 JDM turbo and tranny swap in a S4 USFC. There are two plugs that come from the engine bay, the longer one goes to the ECU. Where does the other plug-in go, even thought its not long enough to go through the fire wall? Do I even need to use that plug at all? Where can I get a N338 dash to ecu diagram and a N374 dash to ecu diagram????

understood, i will get to gettin on that. thanks for the info.(already got the wiring and pin diagram's from this site. from https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?p=9087717 , i think its right...)
No, that thread has info on using a TII EM harness, not the NA harness. The thread in my sig. has ALL of the wiring info you need (which I already wrote out above too) because I put it there.
I think I answered this in my swap thread:

You have to completely rearrange the wires if you use an S4 harness on an S5 car. The plugs won't be the same shape either. Do not go by wire color; download the wiring diagrams for S4 & S5, and compare to see what needs to be swapped. Or just use an S5 harness if it it's an S5 engine.
