Wiring questions

Wondering if anyone has installed a CD player in thier car who can help me out. I found a few extra wires in this car that cars usually don't have. Such as a power wire for the seperate amp for the speakers (a white wire) I connected it to the ACC wire along with the power antenna wire. Is this correct?
My problem now is my dash lights, rear running lights and cigarette illuminator do not work anymore. Are all of these on one fuse? Could be a fuse if so does anyone know which fuse these are on?

Sorry about the long question, thanks in advance.

There is a wire that comes from the lights and goes to the radio- it turns the lights on in the stock radio.
You probably accidentaly shorted this wire when you installed the new radio -brushed it against the brackets or something. I hope you haven't attached something to it accidentally.
It's a wire that is 12v when lights are on, and 0v when off.
I forget the color.
Make sure the wire is cut and taped, then replace the fuse- you should be fine.
Usually, if you installa new radio, you want to bypass the external amps in the car and run all new wiring, but that's a pain, and only if you are getting really involved in your stereo.

my experience

when i bought my 87 TII, the deck got stolen and ripped out from it, when the previous owner had it, i figured u could just connect the wires, easy as that, just match up the colors find the accesory and power, but that wasent the case, there was like 4 extra wires, if you have a power antenna u need a power anenna relay circuit (lil black box with 4 prongs on it, in that goes the remote ground and another wire, they are spliced in with the rest of the wires, i got AB SOUND to profesionaly install it cuz i didnt understand it, but if you want any details feel free to email me, i will pop the deck out and tell you, AKA_MR_OIZO_FLAT_ERIC@HOTMAIL.COM

thanks

I think you're exactly right about shorting that wire because everything worked in my car after I installed the stereo until I turned on my lights.
The problem is I can't figure out which wire is the one that turns on the lights in the stock radio.
Can anyone tell me which wire it is (color)? In fact if anyone has recently wired their stereo could they give me the colors on all the wires, (ACC, all time power, power antenna, ground, seperate amp) just so I can double check my work.

Thanks in advace,
-ED

Okay I'll post the radio wires again... Maybe somebody will do a search and find this next time.

LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear

Another question, what did you connect the power ant wire to? Do you usually have to by pass the speaker amps and run new wires?

Thanks in advance

yes run new speaker wires, you can't use the stock amps, they will fry and maybe the deck too.

as for the power ant. it needs to be grounded in order to go up, backwards from the deck, I just left mine off since I don't use the radio anyways, and I didn't want it up while listening to cd's. but if you want it to work, you need some sort of relay, or ground it with a switch inbtween to raise and lower it.

OK... I can post that again as well... twice in a week isn't too much

First you need a automotive 12 volt relay, that you can get from most auto parts stores/radio shacks/car stereo stores.

On the bottom of the relay are numbers next to the pins.

85 and 30 or the relay to ground.
86 of the relay to the + power antenna output from the aftermarket stereo.
87 of the relay to the Mazda factory LtBlue/Yellow - power ant trigger.
87a of the relay is not used if you have one that has 87a.

You don't have to run new wires, you just want to go to the amps and unplug them, then jump the wires from the radio (that were going into the amps) directly to the speakers, unless you have a radio that only puts out 6 watts a channel (which are very rare these days).

You only would want to run new wire if you are planing on competing in car stereo contests, or you are running more than 50 watts RMS to the speaker.

What if the question was: Where do these plugs go on the radio? I can't do much by knowing where the wires lead if I don't know what the radio outs and is are... There are plugs that fit in more than one place on the radio. We all know they only belong in one specific place. Where do they go???? It does not have a cd player.
