Wiring Question

I have a 1st gen rx7 and I am doing an engine swap. I an putting a 91 Jspec TII and here is my question. Can I wire the engine as an 88TII? Are there any advantages to doing so? I am asking because I have an 88TII computer.
thanks.

Found in the FAQ for FC sticky thread at the top of this section.

MOP= Metering Oil Pump.

S4 (86-88) used a mechanical pump
S5 and up (89+) used a electrical pump monitored and controlled by the ECU

You are also going to have to deal with wiring up the ecu with your 1st gen's body harness. This is where most people doing this kind of swap go with standalone EMS' such as Microtech and Haltech.
