Wiring nightmare

last owner of my '87 base RX-7 really did a number on it - I went digging for the air mix motor under the dash (before I realized it would have to come out) and by the tranny hump on the drivers side, I found a sort of half box, with a circuit board in it, that looks like it takes 1 medium connector and 2 small connectors, but both of the small connectors were gone, and the medium connector had 8 wires and all but 3 were cut off - any idea what this could be? I'm thinking probably audio related, but I DO have a sticker on the door that says theft deterrent, and the only theft deterrent I've come across so far is the cheap looking push button start and the tendency of the car to flood. I'm trying to look through the service manual now and match up schematics to what pieces of the box I still see - it's about 4" by about 7" Any ideas?

Any #'s on that box? Any idea where the harness coming into it is coming from?

Alright, it's dark now, but I just went and looked at it again - it has two sets of wires that are hardwired in at the top, and they look like they come out of the harness that the wipers and hazards plug into - possibly, not for sure on that. The half of the box I have is about 4" by 5" actually, and it has two holes cut in the sides, one across from the two hardwired plugs, and one right near it on the side. The two hardwires, the one on the left has 5 wires, the one to the right has 7 - the two jacks where the two connectors are missing are both 7 pin, but both have one pinout, it's the 6th pin is out on the side, and the 5th pin is out on the bottom. On the board is a sticker that says 10385, but it looks hand labeled, and it has one relay on it. The only thing I'm pretty sure of is that it's not aftermarket, since the two hardwired cables connected at the top are pretty obviously designed for the wiring harness with no visible shrink connections or splices or anything. I looked at the layout for the audio system and for the theft deterrent system in the manual, and neither of them are showing any components in that location of the car (to the left of the transmission hump, right of the steering wheel)

Alright - excuse the fuzziness, it's hard to get a good idea of what I'm shooting in the dark, but here goes.

Any ideas? It kinda sucks that the cover's gone because probably hardly anyone's been inside whatever the hell it is - I'm hoping that someone can identify it by the connectors. Unfortunately there's so much wrong with the car that it's hard to know exactly what this is that could be causing any particular thing to act abnormally.

It just looks like the exact same relay that Mazda used in the wiper module I've got apart on my workbench. I'll look at it more today.

Mazda/Imasen never ever used that relay in a wiper switch. Perhaps you are thinking of something else.

Okay, Icemark wins the prize, it looks like some kind of half-assed aftermarket security system, from the stock looking connector, it branches out across the dash and under the hood to some obviously not stock connections - some of which are tied into the ignition switch, and others that go to the main fuse box. This isn't going to be as easy as I'd hoped.
