Wire Tuck?

I've been searching this website and google for weeks and still can't find anything on a wire tuck for an FC.

I'm stripping everything tomorrow to install a new engine and a whole bunch of other goodies so I wanted to clean up the bay a little bit. Scrub it all down, shine it up, touch up the paint, the whole nine yards.

Can anyone give me a link or pictures or help in anyway on where and how to tuck the wires?

Thanks,
Aaron

Never heard of anyone wire tucking a 7. Check out Honda-Tech (seriously) and you could probably use their general tucking guidlines to do it to the 7. Just make sure to avoid the tires, pinching suspension and the exhaust.

So I run the wires under my fenders?

This might be more trouble than it's worth.

I just want to clean it up a bit and make everything more organized with my new setup.

That's a real stupid idea.
The 240SX guys are moving their wiring harness FROM the fender INTO the engine bay.

Problems are wheel clearances and water / mud / dirt under the fender.

So why would you want to go backwards?

I did a wire tuck on my FC and it was a pain, It would be wise to purchase another harness to mess around with, and get lots of multicolored wires, and wire loom. Remember to label any wires you cut. Refer back to FSM to look at which harnesses you can get rid of. Your Engine harness will be difficult a little difficult to tuck, but your bay harness should be fairly easy and you can tuck that under the fender.

Well I have a whole new setup im installing. I'm not trying to make it a show car, I just want it to look cleaner so when you see it you can focus on and actually easily see the important parts. Ex. Turbo

New motor, low mileage tranny, Garret to4 turbo, HKS exhaust, HKS manifold, HKS aic-additional injector controller, HKS sbc -electronic boost controller, HKS pfc f-con, HKS boost scrambler, HKS BOV, HorsePowerFreaks 6 puck sprung clutch, ACT heavy duty pressure plate, rb flywheel, rotary performance fuel pump, 3" downpipe, Knight Sports - fbcd.

I would like to upgrade my alternator right now to. What would you peoples recommend. FD alternator?

Also I wasn't saying i was putting them into the fenders. I honestly have no idea where they tuck the wires. I only see pics of the clean engine bay. I'd like pics of the tucked wires. I don't necessarily have to tuck them. Just maybe group them together and make them organized and slightly out of the way. I don't want to have to do major mods to accomplish it.

I was also thinking of relocating the battery to the passenger bin. But I don't fully understand that yet.

x2

to gohtretfc:
as long as the harness looks clean and simple (loomed together, no stray wires), it doesnt really need to be hidden, but if youre one of those people who just likes it super clean and simple, go for it. im not one to tell you "don't" if you really want to.
id like to see some pictures if you do though.

I've done this on 1st gens by running the wires through the fenders. It looks great until you need to access the harness. Then you're pulling outer fenders and wheel well liners to gain access. You'll also need to extend a lot of the wires so unless you are familiar with how to make these connections reliable and water proof, you will be introducing a lot of problems.

Good for a show car, but there's a reason that daily drivers don't have hidden harnesses.

I thought this was an easy matter of pushing them out of the way under something. I will instead hide as much as I can and make the rest look as good as I can.

I'm not going for a show car. I figured it would be nice to not see a mess of wires and instead focus on the engine and turbo.

I'll post up some picks when I'm done with the project. I started tearing everything apart this weekend and will have all the new parts on monday.

How about colored electrical tape. Something to match the engine. I'd like to see pics of what you do!

That's an idea, or shrink wrap. I used that for the wires inside my computer case to give it a clean look.

I was looking at some pics today of fc's that have their engines pulled and it looks like its a pretty big job trying to tidy up our engine bays. But i'm gonna attempt it atleast i guess.
