In other words backprobe the L/W and the L/R one at a time and watch the wiper blades move back/forth.
yeh i backprobed it and the motor works fine in high and low speed, i have some errands to run now but i need to figure out something to do to test the wiring again to make sure that the wiring for both high and low works

i mean, i dont entirely understand the process and/or can't wrap my head around it 100% so i want to double check one last time before i have to rip my console off again and mail this freakin thing back to the guy (when he says he tested it before he shipped it but that i am free to send it back for a refund)

About the only way I know is prretty simple. Pull the plug off the wiper switch.

Find a really good ground in the cockpit and attach a wire to it firmly. Put the other end to the blue/white wire and then the blue/red wire on the wiper SWITCH plug (disconnected from the switch). The wipers should work as before when you were in the engine bay.

yeh i did that both of the speeds worked fine - are any of the other lines important? i mean i assume that if it works on low speed that there's a good ground, so the high speed and intermittent/mist should work too if i can probe high speed manually

regardless i'm sending this switch back and i'm mad as hell because this guy sells dozens and dozens of things in storefront on ebay and says he tested it before he sent it out and it worked fine (yeh right). it didnt even have all the parts it was missing the metal bracket to hold in the button(s)

It's the two relays inside the wiper switch housing that decide if the thing works in fast, intermittent etc speeds.

That's all that needs to be done to a switch that works just in slow. Install a new relay or two. They are soldered in and are hard to access. You have to cut some of the surrounding plastic to desolder them.

Some folk have a wiper repair service on this forum.

Since you already bought it and its defective, I would return it if possible. In the future, though, you can get the repaired at www.mazdamark.com. Its run my Icemark of these forums and he is very good and very trustworthy. He repairs them for a reasonable fee or you can just buy the replacement relay and fix it yourself for cheap, but only do that if you are familiar with electronics repair as it is pretty easy to screw up a circuit board if you don't know what you are doing.

yeh i returned it already waiting on the financial stuff and shipping to clear up.
don't see why someone would go through all the hassle of shipping out a non-functional one tho. grrr.

that and i don't know why all these people use UPS when i shipped the thing back to the guy for pretty much $3 aside from the $2 insurance.
