wiper switch

wiper switch

My wiper switch works good, except for the intermediate setting. Intermediate does not work at all. Is this a bad switch, or something in the switch that I can easily fix? every other function with it works.
I have an 87 se.

Probably the switch or one of the relays.

According to the wiring diagram, the relay is in the cluster switch anyway. You'll probably just want to take the cluster apart and look for corroded contacts or bad solder joints.

The relay is inside the wiper switch, and it sounds like it has failed.

I have rebuilt switches, or can rebuild yours for you all found on my website, as well as have the relays in stock, if you want to try and replace it yourself (and you have strong soldering skills).

That said, have IceMark do the job. I just yesterday did the 86 wiper relay, and what a **** of a time I had. I HATE desoldering old relays with a passion (use a good solder wick if you do the job). I should have gutted the old relay and then desoldered the damn thing. I nearly ruined the pcb. Fortualtly the car had a wiper switch from a wrecking yard that had the relay for the rear wipers installed in it, so I desoldered that one and moved it down where the bad relay is/was. I have no rear wipers on this car.

I will never, never, never ever do another wiper relay so help me. Damn wast of time and its frustrating for me, anyway. I'm a large hammer and chisel man myself.

You know I have done so many now that I can un-solder/ suck the board clean, unsolder the whole board from the switches, pull it out, remove the relay, solder a new one in, reflow solder to the whole board in probably less than half the time than it took for you to remove the switch from the car.
