Wiper issue

Turned my winshield wipers on "2" today, and when I turned the car on later, the wipers wouldn't turn off. Interestingly, I think it will change to a slower setting when I turn the **** to "1" it slows down.

Would this be an issue with the relay or the switch? How should I go about fixing this? I need to get this taken care of quickly - I'm planning on going to DGRR in a couple days

Thanks

Collin

My guess is the switch being its known for problems. For a temporary fix you could always unplug the wiper motor when you don't need them.

Is there a good way to fix the switch? I'm pretty sure that's what it is

I bet its the switch as well, id look in some junkyard for a new switch, idk how to go about repairing it.
what you could do temperaily is turn power on wait for the wipers to move down the quickly shut it off and then pull the wiper fuse ontil you get a new switch

Its the switch. I had a broken one, swapped in another one and did exactly what yours is going. My fix for now is to remove the wiper fuse when i dont need to use them.

Yes, the relay needs to be replaced in the switch...not to hard to do if you're good with a soldering iron. I did mine based on link I found back on the internet:

There should be plenty of switches at a junk yard. I could send you my one of many useless spares but I live in Japan...it could take awhile. I think they are on opposite sides too if i'm not mistaken

that is correct they are reversed, headlights ,cruise, turn signal and wiper are all mirrored. i run a jdm cluster surround and siwtches in one of my american cars, and it confuses the hell out of people when i tell them to "turn on the headlights" and they find the wrong switch on that side.
