Wiper harness questions

Hey guys, i don't know if you guys remember but my TII is going to use a microtech so I sold all the stock EFI stuff but I didn't remove the wiper harness from it.

Do you all know if an S4 N/a wiper harness will work on an 89 TII? Or does it have to be from an S5?

There's no wiper harness as such. The wiper motor wiring is part of the emission harness. All you need is the five wires that go from the plug between the front and emission harnesses to the wiper motor. IIRC you need a wire for the temp gauge sender too.

Yeah i know its part of it. The thing is the wires start splitting into different parts of the harness and then some end up in the ECU plug(which doesn't make sense!) how are you supposed to keep that if a haltec/microtech doesn't accept that plug? What kind of custome wiring has to be done?

The emission harness has two plugs that connect to the front harness. That's where the wiper motor wires are, they don't go near the ECU. All you really have to do is connect the wires from the front harness to wiper motor. You should be looking at a wiring diagram to do this, it's all in there.

I've looked at the harness itself. Wankel7 and I hand traced the wires to one of the ECU plugs.

What color was this alleged wire? None of the wiper wires go to the ECU.

They run from the Emissions harness (wiper plug on that harness), to the Front harness. They connect to the Front harness at a 15pin plug called X-15 on a 1987 series four. From there they run either to ground (one black wire), or a connector b/t the front and cluster harness called X-18 on a 1987 series four and it's a 21pin plug.

Are you sure you've a wiring diagram? Of a RX-7? I've jpg'd one in the past on this site.....somewhere.

Well Wankel7 has an actual FSM(the blue binder) in the "shop" so we could check that. It was a while ago so I don't remember the color. When we get a chance i'll take some pics.

Attached is a jpg of a series four. The X=15 is near where the emissions harness comes thru the bulkhead. The X=18 is somewhere below the combination meter/cluster and around the steering wheel.

I can't believe I'm replying to this thread 19 years later, but in the X-15 pin out, what is the use of the BW and WB wires? I sourced an S4 wiper harness but had to cut those two wires off as they were going into the EM harness. Thanks
