Winter plans!

This winter I will be redoing my whole engine compartment, cleaning, polishing, painting, big intercooler, big turbo, the whole works. My question is, I want to be able to 15-20psi of boost, should I have work done to the engine or should I let it as it is. The car still runs great has great compression and has about 40k miles on it. Is there any other things I should think about doing? Any thoughts?

The engine can probably stay as is, but if you are gonna do that setup, you'll want to upgrade to a haltech and bigger injectors. I'm planning on going the big turbo and front mount way eventually so I'm trying not to buy an afc or upgrade my car around the stock turbo too much because I'll jsut have to replace stuff eventually.

I agree with Flamin NOS. If you go with a bigger turbo, you'll have to do the whole fuel system mod (which is at least 3k). The Haltech will have to be included with that and the injectors, etc.. Then the car will have to be tuned withthe bigger turbo.

That's the reason why I went a different route. I put the computer in there and all I have to do now is order in steps. I don't need bigger injectors until I get the bigger turbo. I reckon I can spin the stock one fairly well (15psi) with the stock injectors. But since the Haltech, my upgrades are more staged. Next is a simple intercooler upgrade, then bigger turbo with injectors and regulator.. Then I'll be able to run very high boost and not worry too much. Even now, I can run fairly high boost with the fuel and the Haltech...(hopefully)

So I really dont have to worry about the engine block for now? Thats what I was hoping cause I can really use that money elsewhere since I will probally already be spending in the neighborhood of $6 to $7k to do just what I was planning. Im sick of running high 12's to low to mid 13's.

By the way, how is the drivability with your Haltech?
