Winshield Wiper woes...

Hey guys,

Well we got about 5" of snow last night. Went to scrape the car off and drive down the street. A huge chunk of snow slid down off of my roof onto my windshield while my wipers were on intermittent and heard a pop. Now they do not work, motor is still turning inside but they cease to work.

Is it possible that the rod connecting the wipers to the motor popped off under the weight? Any other ideas and what it could it be would be great. Also, whats the easiest way to get access to fixing them? Removing the black grill held on w/ Philips head screws...?

You sound like you already know what it is. That grill is only attached with a few screws. The wiper arms will have to be removed too. Then just check them out. We got a decent amount of snow/ice/slush down here too

yeah I've just never taken the windshield wiper assembly appart. I hope I didn't strip out the pivot points but if so I guess I can grab some off of another FC somewhere. Just wondering if anyone has had this same problem and how hard it was to fix it.

I don't think it'll be that bad but who knows. lol. I'm going to run out to the car and grab my haynes manual. It all happened so fast. I slowly came to a stop coming down a hill and a huge chunk slid down my windshield off of my room and it was too late. My wipers were on their way up and tried to lift the chunk of snow up. It was as wide as my sunroof when it came down and about 5" tall. lol.

if neither of them work then i would start with the easiest attachment point which is at the motor. pull the 4 10mm bolts off the wiper motor and pull it out, you will know if the arm popped off because normally you can't pull the motor all the way out of the firewall.

Talking

So your one of those ******** who never cleans the snow off the roof of you car so when your driving down the high it flies back and hits my wind shield. Next try being mindful of others and clean the snow and ice of your roof. The way i see this is justice.

+1 It's probably disconnected at the motor.

middle connection popped off. It makes sense now that I saw it and after what happened I will scrape the snow off of my roof. lol. But popped right back on just like the headlight motor connectors do. Happy that it was an easy fix.
