windsheild wipers don't always work

sometimes my windshield wipers don't work. to get them going i have to turn off the car and take out the key, then put they key in and to the "on" position. i then have to turn on the wipers and start the car with the wipers going. after doing this i can turn them on and off for the rest of the drive.

look at my sig. besides, the wiper circuit should be the same for any stock S4, which mine basically is.

what is confusing me is that taking out the key and re-inserting it fixes it temporarily. if it worked when i jiggled the switch, then i'd just pop in a new one.

it seems like a relay problem. the wiring diagrams do not show it's location though.

It does sound like a relay. I would check your voltage when this does happen and find where it stops. The relay can also act like a fuse. Check the resistance level of the wiper motor, it can draw too much power if the resistance is low. This does usually blow a fuse though. Another place to look might be in the ignition switch. Mine right now is doing funny things like the air controls don't come on right away. I have to wiggle the key a bit. Try that.

BTW. I did see the sig. You do have two RX7s. I know this is the 2nd gen area. but sometimes we can't just assume.

The next time *They don't work*, just jiggle the ignition key. Don't turn the ignition off, just jiggle the key a touch and you'll find that they now work. It's an ignition switch *problem*.

did you replace your ignition or are you still dealing with the wiggles.

i'll try that next time, but how could everything else work and it be an ignition switch problem?

sometimes my wipers dont work, and its because the ignition circuit isnt entirely connecting: wiggling, it works for me!
