Window Stuck

My window will only go down, but will not go up. I have taken the door panel off to take a look around, not much to see. I have taken the switch out and cleaned it, but not solution. When I push the switch down, it appears that there is a large current draw as all the lights dim, but when I pull the switch up, there appears to be next to no current draw because none of the lights dim.

I have an 87' Turbo II.

I can't even pull the window up... its just... stuck. I plan to drive from LA to the Mojave desert tomorrow, so hopefully I can atleast get the window in the up position, and its rainy season too...

Thanks.

Does the motor sound like its working when you use the switch? The same thing happened to me with my '87 GXL, but the switch worked fine, it was the regulator that kept going bad. The window would come apart from the regulator at the two screws that hold it together at the bottom of the window.

If the motor sounds like it's working, pull out the regulator and you can rebuild it if you need a quick fix to get you through your trip. Sometimes the little plastic bead chain that the motor drives comes out of it's pulley and will get stuck as well. If that happens, just take the pulley off and slip the chain through while putting the pulley back on.

Yeah, i think its the bead chain that came off, it pushed off the rubber tubing that it slides through and its really screwed up

So... How do I take it apart/take it out?

The reason your window won't come up is because it's still attached to the regulator which is stuck from going up. The only way I can see you getting the window out is by unbolting the regulator assbly from the door, but be careful with the window. If you can move the regulator around once it is unbolted, you may be able to get at the two screws that hold the window to the regulator. If you can unscrew those, you should be able to pull the window out.

Have someone help you! Then disconnect the wiring from the regulator and pull it through the hole in the door, and see if you can get that bead chain unstuck.
