Will these tires fit on the stock rims?

K i am about to buy some tires and was wondering if i will run into any problems running tires this wide. Front tires are 225/50/16 and the rears are 245/45/16. Will i have problems with rubbing or even fitting these on the stock turbo wheels?

you probably want to go with 225/45/16 and I'm pretty sure the rears may to too wide for the stock TII rim.

I would not run 245s on the stock 7" rims. I have 235s on one of my t2s and it sticking off the rims very far. Its being replaced with a 225/50/16" tires tommorrow( stock fd size)

You can mount those tires but not with those profiles. IF you want 245's think more like 245/60 or 55's. I mounted 205/60's on a 13" 5.5 ist gen rim and that was pushing it. 225's are safe and plenty wide enough.

I had 245/50/16 in the back on stock TII rims... I bought the car like that and I didn't have any problems... BUT if I were to choose tire sizes, no way that I would put 245s on 7" wide wheel.

You could drive with your feet but that don't make it a good freakin idea. Also how do you figure going lower profile is necessary when mounting a 245 on a 7 inch (I was under the impression it was a 6.5) rim? You need a wider rim for low profile tires that wide.

6.5" is the n/a rim width.

You're right I just looked at my TII rims and they are 7" wide. See heres the thing. IT was explained to me that if you were fitting an over sized tire on a rim you need a taller profile for example my 13x5.5 on my '81. I had 205/60/13 on them and I wanted either a 55 or 50 but the rim was to narrow. I guess if you want lower profile you need a wider rim. I'm assuming because a lower profile would be wider at the base than a wider diameter tire.

Actually only the BBS convertable 15" wheels are 6.5" wide. The rest of the 15" N/A wheels are 6".

as the width gets bigger and the profile "ratio" gets smaller.

the profile stays the same....

hence the overall diameter is the same. which you want to keep.

I run 225/55r16's on my aftermarket rims, as for these fitting on stock rims i dont think it will work!! The tires on the aftermarket rims are almost too wide they rub only on sharp turns!!

actually rxmfn7 i believe the gxl's had 15x7's cos that what mine were!!

The rx7's can only run a max of 7.5"

I am running 8" wide tires in all 4 corners.
225's in the front, and 255s in the rear.

No, GXL and any other 15" FC wheel with exception of the 'vert wheels are 6". Wheel width is not measured directly from edge to edge. Its similar to if you measure a wheels diameter. If you measure a 16" wheel across for the diameter, its going to be alot larger than 16", more toward 18"

And I am running 17x8s all the way around, and 9s can fit out back no problem.

I know for a fact on stock TII rims 225/45 fit with absolutely no rubbing. You may be able to fit 235s out back but I think that is pushing it on a 7" rim.
