The PS switch doesn't do much at all. The stock setup has the switch tell the ECU when the wheel is turned / being turned, and it then opens up the BAC valve a hair to raise the idle 1-200 rpm so it doesn't bog when you crank the wheel over (ex: when parking, etc.) That's the only electrical part of the system -- don't worry about it. The PS will work just as long as all the fluid lines are hooked up and you've got a belt on it

E6K, powersteering, etc.

In therory with the above post, if you hook your BAC up to the Haltech, then you'll have no problems.

Personally I wouldnt worry that much about the PS.

Really dont bother. I have a 90TII and there is no way Im wasting all that time to make the factory PS ecu work w/o the main ecu. You need to feed it wheel speed and a bunch of other crap.
So far the car feels fine with the pumps electronics disconected.
I think it may be alittle to easy to steer when Im going really fast.
Oh Im running an E11.

The power steering isn't controlled by the ECU at all, in S4 or S5. It has its own completely seperate computer. The only link between the PS system and the ECU is the idle-up feature mentioned above, which has nothing to do with the actual control or operation of the PS. The Haltech won't have any effect.

Ok...So even with the Haltech, itll still cutout at ~40-45?

Is there anyway I can STOP it from doing that? I just want my PS to be on all the time.

why would you want it to stay on? the control on the highway will be worse.

I drove it home one night after my speedo cable broke and I actually prefered the feel of it. It felt tighter to me.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose...

I also hate how it will cut off/on in the middle of turns sometimes.

So is there anything I can do to wire it on all the time?

If you preferred the feel of it when the speedo was broken, then cutting the speed sensor input to the PS computer will have the same effect.
