my friend and my mechanic told me if i get a intake and a straight pipe i would save gas and gain horsepower cause he said it lets the motor flow more freely is that true?

In theory yes, if you free up the intake and exhaust the motor should run more efficient. But before you take your car to that level i would suggest doing the basics first which be a through tune up. Change out all the belts, filters, and lube to start off and then go from there.

Yes, it is true if the intake and pipe are designed properly. If you want to read more on the subject, search the internet for "volumetric efficiency".

Keep in mind that a straight pipe will most likely make your car fail your state's emissions test, rendering the car useless for street driving. Also, removing exhaust components may make the car too loud even for some race track noise standards.

also, N/A usually requires the backpressure of the exhaust (depending on S4 vs S5... S4 uses the backpressure) for the 5th/6th ports. T2 will experience boost creep, which will also cause problems.

a cat and a single muffler would be enough backpressure for a n/a s4 for the actuators to operate properly right?

depends on the diameter of the exhaust pipe

It's not backpressure it's exhaust gas velocity. You can also opt to use the air pump for auxiliary port activation.

This was my understanding as well but, operation by backpressure would explain why the outlet to the actuators is under the check valve on the split air pipe. It would also explain why the FSM tells you to apply air pressure to the actuator inlet to test for operation.

Page 4A-60 in the FSM or page 61 in the PDF.

Use an airpump to run ur ports, less of a pain when replacing exhaust. I've used more gas with my aftermarket crap, then I did with my OEM crap. Thats my thoughts!!

Is there a write up somewhere that would tell one how to make the 5th/6th ports via the air pump?
