Will I be overboosting if I do this???
Will I be overboosting if I do this???
I started a thread on the weekend about a homemade FCD.
Here's another question. I am stock except for three inch mandel down pipe and mid pipe, no cattie going into Racing beat 2 and a half inch Catback system. Oh, and I have a open air filter, no ram air.
I sold my winter car, so now I have bit of cash, I'm buying a racing beat FCD. So my question is will I be overboosting with this set up? Do I have enough fuel for this? I have no boost gauge so I can't really tell how many psi I am pushing with the FCD.
Anyone else run with no fuel mods with three inch exhaust and no cattie?
Any help appreciated, thanks.

you WILL overboost, especily now in the colder weather, expect to hit up to 15psi on a hard 4th or 5th gear pull, way too much. a boost gauge is a mandatory thing to have. you will be able to drive the car with the fcd, you just have to drive it nicer like you are now to avoid hitting higer boost. this of course takes most of the fun away. buy an fcd, a boost gauge, and a fuel pump. go out and see how much boost you are running. if you are running 10 or less you are ok. if you go past 10 let off right away, you are risking it. and then you need a way to lower boost.
94 will help against pinging and detonation. highly recommanded for anything more then stock boost levels. I'm running it and won't run anything lower.
I'm not sure about the stock gauge but I wouldn't even bother trying to read it. you really need a real one. once you get your FCD it won't read right anyways.
