Will any of my Parts off my GSL-SE work on my S5

Hope this isn't a stupid question... If so please just say no ... No need for Flames...

I have a 84 gsl-se that I blew the engine in a long time ago... I had all the bolt-on parts and it was converted to carb... I was really wondering if I could some how use the exhaust system from that old car... I had a full Racing Beat Exhaust with Header, Pre Silencer and Cat Back...

I am going to convert the exhaust to a single from the current dual setup and was wondering if that would work...

Header might work, depending on which way the collector points, the rest of the exhaust won't work.

i'd expect very little to work. it's a different chassis and two generations of 6 port motors earlier than the s5.

I used that little 4-way nipple that splits the air lines where they go into the oil injection fittings. And a rubber grommet where an A/C line goes through the firewall.

Now when I put my GSLSE back together, I'll have to find replacements.

you can use the rotors from the GSL-SE in the S5 na motor. but they are lower compression. so thats really a down grade.

also, the thrid member of the rear (the differential part, not the rest) can also be swapped over im told. the NA s5 is a 7inch ring gear, wich is the same as a GSL-SE i believe.

the tranny can be swapped. but the tranny mount is different. easy fix though.

i once took my second gen exhaust and used it on a 1st gen. it will work up to the rear end area. the over the axle part is different from the under the subframe obviously. and mounting points. but you could use a good part of it. the headers might work. just try and bolt them up to figure it out...

I'm pretty sure the engine flange is the same, so you could test-fit the major parts like the header, cat, and muffler to see if you could use them if you bend and weld up some new pipes. However, I think you would be better off selling your exhaust system and buying a purpose-built 2Gen exhaust system. You should not have trouble selling the excellent RB 1Gen exhaust system, and if you still have the carb kit you could sell that too.

Good to hear that about the Tranny... I need a new one in my S5 that I just picked up... I was just about to search about that topic next... Thanks...
