S4 Turbo manifold questions.

So I recently sent out my turbo to BNR Turbos, and I think that I'm going to remove so bumps and high spots in the casting of the turbo manifold. The biggest thing I notced was a tube inside the manifold. What is it? can I shorten in or have it welded shut and grinded completly flat. any help?

I think thats for the EGR...shouldn't affect anything.

You should remove the twin scroll flapper and plug it, reduced backpressure at the cost of slightly lower spool time. Hit the thing with a hammer.

It is the EGR feed as said above. Feeds exhaust air thru the hole in the rotor housing.........passes thru a passage in the rear rotor housing to the rear side housing...travels up the rear side housing to a EGR passage....passes thru the EGR to the intake manifold which has a passage molded in it ....to the the intake air. That's turbo cars. Non turbo is a bit different on a series four.

EGR's are useless on RX engines and do NOTHING for emissions at all. Zippity.

not to thread jack or anything. could you just use 2 front rotor housings to not get that little tube? i've never understood why each housing is different, but if you were to take off and block the EGR, and was replacing the housings, can you just use 2 front rotor housings?.. or am i just talking crazy?

If you use two of the same housing, then you lose the ACV function. If you don't have a need for the ACV and its functioning, then it matters not.

Has anyone else removed the internal "flapper"?

How much earlier will the boost start spooling (if at all).

What are the negatives of removing it?

Nope. It's there to increase exhaust velocity by keeping one runner closed under 2700 rpm.
