Angry wierd squeek in the rear is driving me crazy!!!

ok here's the deal. Ever since i got my car back in June it always had this squeek that was from the rear. I was thinking ok, you know it is a used car, probably needs new shocks or struts. So I let it pass. Now to describe the squeek it almost sounds like a loose fanbelt only its not. Now a few weeks ago i took it to a place to get it aligned and i told them to take a look at it. (I know nothing about suspension). Well they checked it out, turns out my shocks and struts are fine, so they just lubricated the parts. Well..it still squeeks. Has anyone had this problem?

When does the sound occur? Bumps? Can you hear the noise if you push on the rear bumber to get suspension moving?

I think the body of the car is about to crack or sumthing like that. Maybe sumthing is rubbing against the body.

Well, I've got the same wierd squeek comming from right behind the drivers head and I've got a convertible. So much for the hatch theory!
My suggestion, give up. It only happens at speed over bumps so it's impossible for you to find without driving backwards!

Check your brakes could be worn pads or worn out suspension part like bushings, but it sounds like brakes to me

I had the same problem recently. I replaced the rear hatch locks and latches. fixed me right up. apperently the release springs get weak after a "few" uses... so they squeak like a **** . really frigging annoying
its worth a shot..dosent cost much... if anything at al l.... if ya got a junkyard with 7's in it ... thats the main thing.

where exactly are the relief springs, and how much were they? Also what do you mean, by a "few" uses. I sensed some sarcasm there. do you have to maintain some sort of lubrication? I've got some work to do in that area. i'm going to replace the shocks and the hatch seal. so i might as well do this also.

I have installed new springs, shocks, calipers, pads and rotors. The noise from the rear is still there. I have inspected everything from the muffler donuts to the rubber molding around the hatch. This noise I have seems to come and go. Really annoying, can't seem to find the particular circumstances occurring when it happens. The noise almost sounds like rubber, its definitely not a metal sound. If I read right, I believe the 'relief springs' are the pistons that support and move the hatch. I sure would like anymore info anybody has on the cause of this noise.

You know, I cant belaive that the suspension has gon eunmentioned here.

If there is a creaking noise over speedbumps, its the rear suspension bushings.

This is why the convertable mentioned in the forum did this too.

I am sure that hatches can squeak, but ive never seen that in the 5 cars that I have owned.

I attributed my rear squeak to the Dynamic Tracking Suspension System (DTSS) found In our cars. When I replaced them with Racing Beat's DTSS Eliminator Bushings the squeak vanished. The old Bushings were severly rotted beyond recognition.
