so i am having some troubles with my 91 na. first is that in 3rd gear around 6000 rpms the engine starts to studder really badly. it is fine if i stay below 6000 and it is ok in the higher gears at that speed but in 3rd it is really bad. also if i turn the car off wait about 5 minutes and try to turn it back on it won't start. if i wait 10 or 15 more minutes the car will start right up. sometimes if i press the gas as i am starting, like as if it was flooded, it will start up.

any ideas?

 

From your description, I'd be looking at spark plugs and spark plug cables first.

When were they last replaced, and what condition are they in?

 

i haven't looked to closely at the cables but they are the nkg (?) blue ones. they looked to be in decent shape when i changed the spark plugs about a month ago. these problems have only started occurring over the past few days. i give them a closer examination tomorrow. thanks.
