widest wheels possible on 2nd gen?

okay, i'm looking at wheels cause i wanna buy some. i know i wanna go with 18's. and i wanna lower the car some too so guessing i have to take that into account to make sure i'm not hitting the body. but what's the widest wheel i can put on a 2nd gen? it's a turbo II by the way if it matters. just can't really price tires or figure out what to look for cause i don't know how wide i can go. anyone have any insite? offset? bolt pattern? thanks!
scott

sorry, i tried searching but anything with "wheel" would come up with zilliions of results to have to go thru.

I have 18x7.5 in front and 18x9 rear. You could go with an 18x8 in the front though, but the rears fit real nice with 255/35 18 tires and 40mm offset and they dont have any rubbing issues.

HREs and Fikses are nice, but they can easily cost over $3000 for 4 wheels! A nice affordable 5 spoke would be the konig villains, I think they are like 700-900 for 4. Kurgan has these on his 20b FC and they look nice!

Basically, when buying a wheel you are making a big comprimise between size, price, and lightness. The only way to get a good size wheel light is to pay a lot. I know this sucks but hey wheels are expensive

you can get racing hart type c2 evo's for like 1300 with tires if you look now they are not the lightest rim but they are still a lot lighter than stock plus they look hella cool here is a pic of them on my buddy's civic

I have a question regarind the largest tire you can run in the front without rubbing.
Saying I have a pair of 235/40/17 tires for the front, together with a coiloer system and camber plates.. Will they still rub?
I know a smaller size is ideal for the front but that is the only curent set of tires I have right now.

just a few more that i saw that i liked as well.....

www.speedstar.co.jp/collection/kranz/index.html (the silver one)
http://www.speedstar.co.jp/collectio...ium/index.html (almost the same but it's different)
http://www.wheelspecs.com/rides/vehi...sVehiclesID=58 (i like the rims on this mr2 but i'd want a silver color)

anyway, dunno how much any of those rims would cost (or where to get the 1st two). i don't mind spending around $2k for some rims but when it starts getting up around $3k i don't really care to have to spend that much. jeese, maybe if it was going on an fd maybe sure. i like a nice polished lip. would that change the offset at all?

I have 18x7.5 in front and 18x9 rear. You could go with an 18x8 in the front though, but the rears fit real nice with 255/35 18 tires and 40mm offset and they dont have any rubbing issues.
is that 40mm offset in front and rear?
merry x-mas ya'll!

I realize this does not apply to the kind of wheels you are looking at but my race car runs with 15x10's all the way around (5.5" of backspacing) and they fit fine but do stick out from the fenders by about 2.5".
