Widest possible tire for TII? I already searched.

Ok, looking at picking up a Project TII for an all around street beast. I don't want to reveal my plans yet as I'm not big on saying I'm going to do something and then possibly not following thru on it.

Anyway, given that I have say a 16" wheel with the perfect offset and max width, what's the max size tire I could squeeze in the back?

Is mini-tubing an option? Anyone have any info on the procedure?

What about fender flairs? Anyone have any links to aftermarket rear flairs for a TII? Something like a 'lip' design around the rear quarter panel would be good. What's the tire size I could run in that scenario?

Also, if anyone knows of a site with some sort of info on someone who has done a setup similiar to what I have outlined, please post some links.

Thanks in advance.

i think what my friend is wanting to know, will we be able to find a way to get around 12-13 inches of clearance without doing any hacking? not needing much if any extra height, just width

I have 91 turbo with 275's on a 17 x 10" wheel with no flairs or anything and its kinda tight, but I get no rubbing period.... Up front I have 17 x 9's w/ 225's right now, but can fit a 235 and possibly a 245.... I'll find out when the other tires get here....

Youd be safe with up to a 265 width..

Anything else is questionable

You can run 275's safely, just find a wheel with the right offset and it fits good, but really 275 is the max without altering things. I've become a bit of a wide wheel tire expert on Turbo II's....and I tell you, your limited on wide wheels period for TII's. The 17 x 10s I bought were a perfect fit... shop around

i got a pair of mustang wheels with 255's on them. they stick out way to much in front and cant be used cuz the fender would hit them. they might work in the rear, its so close, ill have to lower the car to see if its going to hit the quarter panel. the backspacing on the stang' wheels is fricken close to the suspension i think the backspacing was something like over an inch deaper on the stang wheels then stock. i was working on a new fender so the 255's would fit in the front, but i failed! mold broke durring release. but i learned a lot and that was the first time i worked with somthing that big. on to the next try! you know, when i was making that flare, 255 almost seemed too small to Justify a new flared fender, what size would you like? maybe somthing like 335/35R17 all the way around?

the 10's are a 38mm offset....the 9's are 35mm offset.... I am also going to run 2mm spacers on all 4 corners because the front is close but it doesn't rub and 2mm isn't going to hurt a thing...despite what others say Every race team on the Leman circuit runs them in some form... H&R makes great spacers though

I've told others before..I just called a few custom wheel guys and asked them if they knew from experience the max wheel size for TII's and they told me the back spacing and offsets I needed.. The one company I wanted to build me wheels was to busy to do them right away, so I shopped at just about every wheel manufacture until I found what I wanted..... Get out the wallet cuz wide wheels just aren't cheap anywhere.....anything wider than 8's are spendy

275-40-17's will work.... I have a friend in Chicago who has the samething on his car too... I'm unsure what he has on the front though.... He bought some BBS 17 x 10's and thats when I got the 10"-bug again

Of course fronts are limited...235's....245's maybe depending on your creativity

I have 255X17X40 in the rear and 225X45X17 in the front.

Looks like there may be more room available in the rear..

in the front, it is very easy to rub with higher than 225 tires, so be careful.
