Why would my toes be on fire?

I have been wondering this for a while. As I am driving my foot area gets very hot, not enough to burn but uncomfortably hot. What could cause this? The only opening other than the speedo would be where the clutch would be if I had a manual but it has a stereo power cable run through it atm....

Thank you!

p.s. I fixed my clicking it turned out to be the ball joint.

cant be the exhaust,it runs on the other side, unless you got a righthand drive car.

I burnedthe toe area on my boot once when I had my 240sx. Did a cutch change and the heatshield was just hanging so I took it off...what a mistake that was. Spent 2 minutes wondering who the hell is doing a burnout on the highway going 80mph lol

one part, its the heat from the engine going pass the fire wall... believe me, i know... my car has no carpet and the heat gets hot... but the weather here in MN has been getting cooler and it feels rather nice.

also, i dont know if the engine heats up the pedals and shifter too or something. last time driving with sandals, i felt like it could burn my skin/boot.

the previous owner told me he melted his shoe right on the gas pedal going about 100mph.

well, rotaries do produce an exorbitant amount of heat. Heat of course will travel to the cooler spots. But if its heating up the foot area to a point of burning...just imagine how hot the engine bay must be.....you can probably cook an egg in the sucker.

It could be your interior vent system. Lately I've had my feet get a little warm, too, and it felt like there was a little bit of air coming out the foot vent so I switched it to some other setting and turned the fan on and there was no more hot air on my feet. I can't be sure why that is, but it may have something to do with the vents not getting sealed off properly with the different settings or something.

hey guys, its been getting cooler here in minnesota... but during the summer, i was like driving a sauna around. but i got some question now... i crank the thermostat all the way to heat, and all i get is cool air. not even cool warm air, just cooled. but if i just sit around, it blows warm air and maybe eventually warmer air. then after i start driving, it starts cooling down again. what's the issue?

I recently learned that some cars may have issues producing enough heat in the coolant to heat the interior if the coolant/water ratio is wrong. That might be something to look into for the too cold issues...

I don't know how the '7 controls the heat level though, knowing that could be helpful.

i the first thing I would do Katkaroto is to check you coolant level.
Sounds like you dont have enough coolant or have air.
Make sure when you bleed it to always have the heat on, a lot of people always forget this.

Forget? I didn't even realize it made a difference. Can you explain why? If I know why I'll probably never forget from now on.

well you do have the carpet removed . . . the doors in your climate control unit could be stuck in the open position letting hot air out through the foot ducts, i've had issues where i have a/c coming out up top and heat coming out down below, and sometimes its blowing a little even when the fan speed is set to zero so yeah, take a look around under there

If you have air in the system, some of it will be trapped inside the heater lines/core. With the heater switched off, the valves shut that part of the cooling system off, and it cannot be bled off at the radiator.

heater failure

My heater servo motor failed in the on position, leading to the scalding leg scenerio. This is the small motor that opens and closes the valve letting hot coolant into your heater. It can also fail in the off position, meaning you get no heat or somewhere in between. The logicon can also fail leading to the same result. Since removing the heater requires removing the instrument panel, which is a big pita, my fix was to install a wire to control the heater valve from the driver's seat. To do this, disconect the wire to the servo. (On driver's side of heater. You need to get upside down with you head under the dash to see it.) I used a coat hanger inserted through the grill in the center console. (Remove the grill and drill a small hole in the lower left corner of the duct. Make a 1/4 inch bend in the end of the wire, insert it through the hole and connect to the valve using the existing plastic connector to lock it in place. Reinsert grill, cut the wire to the desired length and voila, no more roasted leg. ) Paint the wire for that customized ghetto look. Here's a pic of the finished product.
