Question Why would a car use less oil ?

I have recently purchased and new engine from BNR supercars. I changed my oil and I put 4 quarts in and the dipstick was showing way over full. I took out about 1/2 a quart of oil last night and got the oil level down to full. I am trying figure out if it this is normal or why this is happening. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Did you start the engine after changing the oil? If not, there would be about one pint that has to make its way into the oil filter. Also, check your dipstick to see if its seating too deep. The rubber that seals the dipstick maybe have been damaged/abused by previous owners, allowing the stick to go too far into the oil pan, which would make it over-read.

also perhaps you changed the oil with the car inclined in such a way that not all the oil ran out when you drained it.
