Why wont a S4 omp bolt to an S5 cover?

I would like to keep my S4 omp when I put a S5 in my TII. I dont want to rip the front cover off though. Why wont the S4 just bolt onto the S5 cover? Ive read quite a few old threads on this, but havent gotten an answer. Im torn between pre-mix, and using the OMP. I wont use the OMP is I have to change the cover, because I really dont want a problems with the needle bearing.

The OMP is physically different in size, no way it will bolt on.

I don't see a problem taking the timing cover off, i've done it quite a few times. The needle roller isn't really an issue if you completely take the cover off. If you just take the pulley off and everything shifts forward (i've never had it happen, just read about it on here), then the bearing may fall down, but with the cover off it's not much work to lift it back in place.

Run premix. OMP is not something I want to mess with anymore... especially after putting so much money in the engine, to have something like that fail and ruin my engine, not gonna risk it.

Premix for me.

The S5 ECU needs to see the metering oil pump or else it will go into limp mode.

a company makes an adapter to bolt the s4 OMP to the s5 cover. I'm at work. might have the link at home. it was under $100

you can't use the s5 ecu though. it'll go into limp mode with no s5 MOP.

speaking of which, if one of these suckers fails, is there a specific idiot light that'll tell you? Cause I don't want my '90 TurboII that I just replaced the engine on, to take a crap all of a sudden someday because the OMP took a dump.

here is the link. it's not listed. but aparently they make them for $92

http://www.rotaryaviation.com/oil_in...p_adaptors.htm

it also has the 2 stoke bottle like the ones listed. so instead of using engine oil. you put a big bottle of 2 stock oil under your hood and it takes it out of that. just gota remember to keep it filled up.

Well then, its no better than pre-mix. If you forget to put it in the tank your screwed. If you forget to put it (oil) in the gas tank, your screwed.

ya but it would probably last months with a decent sized bottle. better then having to deal with it each time you get gas.
