why is my oil so hot??

why is my oil so hot??

my oil temop guage says my oil is around 210 but its not supose to go over 190 right?

that's pretty hot... mine stays around 170-180. make sure nothing is blocking the oil cooler. leaves etc. try cleaning it with some engine degresser or something.

maybe i hooked my oil cooler lines up wrong... the short one(front of motor) goes on the side of the cooler right?? and the long one (back of motor) goes on top??

is that even during hard driving?mine will run about that at crusing,but will definately come up during hard driving..

It may also be a malfuntion in the temp controled valve that opens at the right temp to let the oil to go through

Yeah, I've seen racers running 250-260 oil temps, 210 is nothing.

well, ok, for the street it's kinda high, but still, not that big of a concern.

Keep in mind you are measuring the oil at the oil pan, after it's been heated by the engine. Everyone else measures oil temps after the oil cooler but before the engine.

If you place the sensor at the oil drain plug, then you are measuring temps in the pan.
If you place it at the oil filter, then you are measuring temps right before the engine's block and passages.

Same principle with the water temp sensor. Before or after the thermostat plays a huge role on what temps you'll be seeing....

its not in the drain hole... i got rid of that thermo sensor(for the idiot light) and the fitting threads right in no probs.
