why low oil pressure?

ever since i finished the engine swap into my T2, ive had extremely low oil pressure. i havent driven the car in a while so i cant remember exactly how low, but i know it was real low. the engine seems to run fine, havent had any problems with it, is it just a bad oil pressure sensor? the only thing i can think of that might cause my problem, is i had to take my front cover off a while back. when i pulled the bolt out of the main pulley, i seem to remember there being a small pellet inside the eccentric shaft. i cant remember if i put it back into the engine or not. can that be causing my problem? i cant really think of anything else that might do it. got any ideas?

"I think" without that pellet you would see idle oil pressure all the time. The aftermarket replacement part for that is one solid piece which gives a higher oil pressure all the time. You would check that out before you go and mess with anything else. All you need to do is take out that bolt; you can leave all the pullies and belts in place.

Or, I hear that if the front cover o-ring is shot, it will read a very low pressure. Did you replace it when you had the front cover off? If not, perhaps it tore...

And yeah, the thermo-pellet replacement is a piece of cake. Takes maybe 15 minutes to do.. All you need is a few washers--do a search for it, there are several writeups with pictures.
