Why isnt my temp gauge reading?
so here is everything i have done;
when i pulled the n/a motor two months ago everything was working great including my temp gauge. I just finally got to start up my fresh atkins s5 streetport motor and had a hell of a time getting the t-stat to open. Car has s4 electronics and manifolds yada yada. I re-did my emissions harness and took out everything that wasnt needed. I also rolled back the miles on a different cluster to read zero miles and swapped that speedo into my car's cluster very carefully.
to my knowledge the gauge operates off of the driver side harness and radiator only and shouldnt have anything to do with motor swaps correct?
when getting the t-stat to open, the gauge, if i remember correctly usually sky rockets and reads super high until the t-stat opens then it cools down right? just making sure it has actually gotten most the air out and thats not why my gauge isnt working..
any ideas?

Isn't it super illegal to roll back an odometer?
The water/coolant temperature gauge reading comes from the sensor very near to the oil pressure sendng unit. (Driver's side USDM.) - It is a tiny nipple that requires a bullet type connector.
(NOTE: In the photo below, it is the sensor associated with the green. It has a yellow/red wire running t it.)

Don't roll back ODO's. Not only super illegal, just b/c your engine is back to 0 miles does not mean your suspension bushings, tie rods, ball joints, axles, u-joints, driveshaft, transmission, differential, body, yada yada is back to 0 miles.

oh yeah i might not have hooked that one up >_< im also not running any emissions equipment, front license plate, im too low to the ground and i speed everywhere i go if you would like to call the authorities =) i appreciate your help but i dont need to be educated on any laws. its my car that i plan on having for a very long time, not trying to rip anyone off either.

looks like you need more education everywhere across the board, and you also need some common sense.

id like to appologize for being a smart ***. i decided not to run the rolled back odometer, and it was not because of comments here. it was more of a boredom thing and was interested seeing if i could successfully "beat the system" by rolling back the odometer that they made unable to roll back. so it sits on my shelf with 2 miles on it, i feel accomplished. but yeah im sorry for jumping the gun and being a disrespectful smart ***. i do not wish to make any enemies here as i appreciate any and all help which i seem to need often, but hey nobody on this site was born with their knowledge of cars, but im learning.
