Why does my intercooler hose always pop off?

Every time i boost up really high and my car very hard, my intercooler like in the right side looking into the engine bay always seem to come loose and start making a blow off valve sound, with a ton of turbo lag. I have tightened it several times, but it just seems to do it often.

What does this indicate? I need a bigger intercooler, my facory bov isn't working, i've got too much boost?

All i have is a Full cat back 3" exhaust....88 vert TII 5 speed.

Thanks!

1) Turn down the boost
2) Replace the clamp with a new one.
3) Replace the clamp with a big bad-*** T-bolt clamp that will never come off!

Along with what my esteemed colleague has mentioned:

Make sure the connction that is popping off has a "Lip" to prevent the hose from backing off.
Do not use a lube to help slide the hose on the connection, it will also aid in it sliding off

Hair spray, rubber cement, t bolt clamps and lips will keep pipes from blowing off.

it pops off right after i let go of the gas to shift, and only happens when i have been at a high rpm for a while and the pressure has been building up.

Then your BOV needs to be loosened.

take your pipes to a machine shop and have a bead rolled onto the end of the tubes.

Sounds to me like your overboosting becuase of the exhaust and no wastegate porting. You said it yourself, it only happens when the boost pressure builds up at high rpms, wich in your case, im sure is over the stock psi. Having the wastegate ported and getting new clamps like the others have said is the best advice.

Should be a nut on top of most aftermarket BOV's that you can turn left and right, for softer or harder. softer ='s opens easyier.

guys... STOCK BOV
i mean seriously.... you need to learn to read AND think...
the first replies were what... omg, tighten the hose... but it is his bov not venting properly and blowing off hoses when he lets off the gas...

it is simple... either his BOV is overwhelmed, or it is stuck or not hooked up properly

Yeah, there's gotta be a way to tell these ignorant idiots to STFU.
Crank the stock turbo + stock BOV up past 10psi, and I'll guarantee you you'll be blowing IC hoses.
The inlet hose tends to blow off first.

This is not about a bad stock BOV.
It's just too much boost and / or crappy clamp.

thanks for the info so far guys, just chill a little. Can my boost have really risen THAT much naturally only from a cat back exhaust? Cat back is the only thing on my car that isn't stock....so i doubt the boost has risen so much it blows ic pipes off. It might just be a bad clamp. The clamp is the type that the more you screw it the tighter it gets lol. <------lmao!

I'll try tightening the clamp even more....

Cat-back should raise boost about 2psi.
No aftermarket boost gauge????
Shame on you!

The problem with those stainless steel band clamps is that if you overtighten them, you just killed them.
Don't just keep cranking on them, cause you will just ruin them.
I like to use dedicated nut drivers on them, cause they give you just enough torque without overtightening.

This used to happen to me 2 years when I got my first 7. I installed a fmic & a HKS BOV & the piping kept blowing off. I went & got T-bolt clamps & new couplers w/ lips & solved my problem.
