I don't understand. What's wrong with the N/A drivetrain? It's strong enough to take crazy mods they do to N/As (including supercharging) so why is it necessary to swap the drivetrain when I swap in 13BT?

Its not necessary I don't think, its more highly recommended. There was someone on here that didn't do it I believe.

The NA drivetrain will reportedly handle up to about 250 HP, and I'm sure you could get it to take more HP if you were really smooth while driving it. I believe that most of the supercharged NA's are running around 240-250HP (at the flywheel) -- just under the 'limit.'

I think it was Kabooski who has a turbo engine in his NA...

The Turbo models have a stronger clutch, gearbox, driveshaft, diff and axles; basically everything is better. Even "crazy" mods on an NA don't get near the power potential of a modded turbo. Supercharging is no different to turbocharging, it's still going to put much more stress on the drivetrain than an NA. You don't have to use Turbo components, but if you want to get serious with a turbo'd car, who wants to be replacing broken drivetrain components everytime you go racing or give it a decent serve?

How much does it cost to have the drivetrain replaced too then?

The previous owner of my first rex (87 n/a) tried to put a fifty shotof nos on it. The drive shaft snapped the first time he tried it.

Unless you get the parts real cheap, it'll cost less to sell the NA and buy a Turbo. And it's a lot less hassle.

Ah, didn't know that, sorry! This is the only model worth transplanting a Turbo into. Turbo 'verts are so cool!

I have been gathering the parts needed to convert my n/a to a turbo. I don't plan on bringing it to a track or anything so I'm not going to upgrade the drivetrain. I would say it would work. I don't pop my clutch or anything crazy. I don't even floor my car (well maybe once and a while but i'll never punch it to WOT I go slowly to the floor.) So I really don't think I am going to have any 'nasty' problems with it.
