why am I shooting flames?
ok so I have a 88 SE and I whould like to know why im shooting flames out of my exhaust. I just put a new K&N high flow air filter in the stock air box, and my exhaust system is just a 2 inch from the stock manifold down to a resinator back to a Y pipe then to two magnaflow mufflers. and the exhaust system is about 2 years old and was not shooting out flames as much as now. and I only have to go to about 6 thousand rpm's to shoot flames. The reason that im asking this is because I would like to keep my mufflers insted of melting the stuff inside

yeah I would check the timing like was said. You have a decent amount of unburned fuel entering the exhaust and it is ignigting in the exhaust that is why you are shooting the flames.

Timing doesn't just change unless someone has moved the CAS.
Is all the emissions equipment (obviously excluding the cats) installed? When is the last time the car got a tune up?
