why am I breaking trannys?!

No major mods, but I broke ANOTHER tranny in less than a year. When I replaced it I had a 38,000 mile tranny that went in. It was filled with mobil 1 fluid and had new comp. mounds installed, as well as a new front cover. I went to the local 7 11 today and when to hit 3rd and Zing, like I missed a gear, Thought it was the clutch till I put it in 4th and the clutch worked fine, but all the tranny has is 4th, same as before. So WTF, now I need another tranny or fix what I got. Any help would be greatful I dont want to swap tranny every 8 months.

just get a T2 tranny and quit the BS, obviously i think you are abusing it though you may not think so. if you can break a T2 tranny in an n/a then i think there is seriously something wrong here..

I have been very nice to the tranny, I dont have a lsd or beat up the tranny, and it is attached to a act Street disc and a sr motorsports flywheel. I an VERY good with the clutch and shifting in general that is why I am pissed off that it broke.

so you never have abused it ever? even something you did 5 months ago can show up just now with a hard decel shearing a shaft without you even thinking twice about it.

you must be doing something wrong as my tranny held up to the abuse of me clutch kicking, drag racing and a few auto-x's it for the past 10k miles, this is with a 6-puck solid hub clutch. Only thing with the tranny is 2nd gear syncro is going out but i cant complain as there is nearly 180k on this tranny.

My tranny has 60k of use since it was swapped in, and unknown miles before that. Other than the second gear synchro getting kinda worn its fine, and I haven't exactly taken care of it. Drag strip, power shifting, shifting with no clutch, and its still fine. Mind you I don't do those any more, and the shifting with no clutch was because my ankle was damn near broken and it hurt to use the clutch. I actually gound the gears only 1 or 2 times.
Anyway, with my tranny holding up like that, I can't think of what would kill that many trannys when they aren't abused.

aside from lack of lubricant, you sure you are filling them to the appropriate level? remember that junk yard trannies tend to get condensation in them, rust is not good on gears nor mixed with gear oils.. you did change the fluids after installing the trannies right?
