Angry the whole car shakes when i step on gas

so heres my problem:

when the car is moving and i step on the gas, the whole car vibrates to the point to where i cant hear my passenger / radio.

but when i let go of the gas, everything becomes smooth...

has anyone experienced the same problem? i'm clueless as to where the root of the problem may be. can anybody help me?

thanks

possibly u-joints goin out and the drive shaft is off balance causing a loud hard vibration.

Don't drive it like that.

If you have to drive at all, be very gentle with power.

Your U-joint is just about to break and leave you stranded.

Sorry to jump in here, but my '88 T II is doing the same thing except for the loud clank of metal. Could it be the U-joints as well?

My FAQ notes on U-joints:
As a U-joint starts to fail, it first looses it's grease, then the needle bearings start to wear and make slack & excess clearance.
The extra wear sometimes allows the shaft to wobble off center giving vibration.
Then the needle bearingss start to rub & bind on each other.
As they bind & pop free from binding, you can hear a "tink" sound that rings the tubular shaft.
This can usually be heard just as you start moving.
Visual inspection shows rust deposits near where you would normally see grease residue.

The RX-7 drive shaft is sold as a one piece assembled unit however you can take it to you local drive shaft shop and have them install new generic U-joints.
